Wow. That’s A Big Battery

Southern California Edison revealed one of the world’s biggest batteries in order to demonstrate the business viability of energy storage of renewables on the grid. It’s a 32-megawatt-hour-lithium-ion storage project in the Tehachapi Mountains region, capable of producing 4.5 gigawatts of wind energy by 2016. The system is stored in a 6,300 square foot building.
