Solar power’s forecast is bright and sunny!

Compared to 2013, solar energy generated by utility-scale plants in the U.S. is up more than 100 percent.

Despite the huge growth, its affects are still small. Solar power makes up less than 0.5 percent of electricity needs nation wide, though that’s still over 1.5 million homes. It is predicted to account for 1 percent by the end of the year.

The group Environment America believes 10 percent should be a goal by 2030, though others believe it will happen much sooner. Still, there are hurdles to address.
