Awesome green energy innovations from 2014

The energy revolution is here. Most of the world powers are turning toward renewable energy sources and practicing energy efficiency, and some big advancements have been made in the last year that will have you excited for the future.

You may have seen the “Solar Freakin’ Roadways” video and Indiegogo campaign this summer. The project is being tested in the Netherlands with a solar road for bicycles. The 230-foot path creates enough energy to power three homes.

Solar panels are also becoming more efficient and less expensive with over 40% sunlight to energy conversion currently possible. New innovations continue to sprout up, including a solar sponge that converts sunlight into steam.

Scotland is making big strides with wind power. In October enough energy was created to power every home in the country and more. They’re also building the world’s largest tidal array.
